Lynwood Williford Sr.
Entered Savings and Loan business in 1963, as
Assistant Vice President of Security Savings and Loan Association, Farmville,
NC. Moved to Goldsboro in 1969, accepting job with, then, Goldsboro
Savings and Loan Association, Goldsboro, NC, as Loan Officer and Vice President
in charge of construction lending. Remained with this S & L, through name
changes to American Savings and Loan Association, and 1st American Savings and
Loan Association, serving in addition to lending operation, as purchasing
officer, security officer, later as Senior Appraiser for Independent Services
Corp., an owned subsidy of 1st American, remaining in that capacity until March
1985. Formed The L. Williford Co., Inc., Real Estate Appraisers and Counselors,
in June 1985 and still remains with the company as Chief
Executive Officer.
Became a designated member of the American
Institute of Real Estate Appraisers in November 1979, and a designated member of
the Society of Real Estate Appraisers in 1981. These two professional
organizations have now merged, as the Appraisal Institute, and with the merger,
Lynwood holds the designation, Senior Residential Appraiser. Served on a
number of local, and regional committees through the "Institute", including the
Standards and Professional Ethics committee, and served as editor of the North
Carolina Chapter of the Appraisal Institute news bulletin. When the
State of North Carolina began to require licensing of appraisers, Lyn Sr. earned
his State General
Certification.
